AC Milan are reportedly considering the possibility of selling Rafael Leao to fund a huge move for want-away Napoli star, Victor Osimhen.
Will AC Milan Sell Rafael Leao?
The Portuguese winger has established himself as one of the best players in Europe and is undoubtedly one of the hottest properties available, especially in Serie A.
During his time with AC Milan, the 26-year-old has contributed to 132 goals in 260 appearances, scoring 72 and adding a further 62 assists – which has also seen him make 40 appearances for his national side.
His biggest achievement in Italy came in 2022, as Leao contributed to 21 goals in AC Milan’s run to the Serie A title, but reports indicate that the superstar is now looking for a move away from Milan.
Bayern Munich have shown interest in the Portuguese star but his release clause sits around $180 million and this fee appears to have put off any potential suitors.
According to Serie A betting sites, Chelsea and Arsenal are also possible options for the winger to look at this summer, but no official bid has been submitted.
Leao joined the club in August 2019, meaning he will be entering his seventh season with Milan and this may cause Leao to look for a change of scenery this summer.
However, the Portuguese star signed a new deal with Milan in June 2023 which is set to expire in June 2028 and this will make any negotiations harder to complete
Would Victor Osimhen Join AC Milan?
One factor that could play a part in Rafael Leao’s possible departure is the situation of Victor Osimhen at Napoli, who has been involved in a transfer sage for multiple months now.
The Nigerian revealed that he wanted to leave Naples in the summer of 2024 and joined Galatasaray on loan for the 2024/25 season after a move to a top European side failed to materialize.
Napoli have already started to look for possible replacements as Osihmen’s exit is all-but certain, with the Serie A side turning their attention to Liverpool star, Darwin Nunez.
Recent reports over Osimhen’s situation in Naples have all pointed to the same thing, his wage demands appear to be too high for any club to make a full commitment.
The prolific striker has already declined a move to Saudi Arabian side, Al Hilal and has now been linked with a move to another Italian side in AC Milan.
Any move to the black and red half of the San Siro would only be achieved if Milan can sell Rafael Leao, as this income would fund their bid for Osimhen.
