According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli’s interest in Chelsea’s young midfielder Cesare Casadei has hit a financial roadblock as the London club refuses to lower their asking price of at least €15 million. The Italian side, while keen on the player, is hesitant to commit to such a significant expenditure in the January transfer window.

Casadei, who turns 22 tomorrow, remains a highly regarded prospect despite his limited playing time at Chelsea. With only 424 minutes of action this season and no Premier League appearances, the Italian U21 international is seeking more opportunities. Napoli sees potential in Casadei, viewing him as a young, physical, and internationally experienced midfielder who could bolster their squad.

However, Chelsea’s stance is firm. Having invested €15 million in Casadei initially, they are unwilling to incur a loss on the player. The English club is also pushing for a sell-on clause, further complicating negotiations.

Napoli’s sporting director, Giovanni Manna, is taking a cautious approach, hoping to secure a discount while also exploring other options, including Empoli’s Jacopo Fazzini.

The situation with Juventus defender Danilo presents another strategic challenge for Napoli. Juventus prefers to receive compensation for the player, who will be out of contract in five months. Napoli, however, is reluctant to pay for a soon-to-be free agent. This negotiation might extend until after the crucial Napoli-Juventus match on January 25, as neither club wishes to strengthen a direct competitor prematurely.

Antonio Conte, Napoli’s manager, sees Casadei as a potential fit for his tactical system, reminiscent of their time together at Inter Milan. However, the financial considerations are proving to be a significant hurdle in realizing this reunion.
