The latest Nico Paz transfer news has revealed that Real Madrid will exercise the buyback clause for the Como star next summer.
Paz has had an electric start to the 2025-26 campaign under the guidance of Cesc Fabregas. The attacking midfielder has three goal contributions in as many games for the Blue and Whites.
In August, the Argentina international won the Serie A Rising Star of the Month award. His exploits certainly haven’t gone unnoticed with Real ready to renew their interest.
Nico Paz Transfer News
In July, Real Madrid were set to trigger Nico Paz’s €8 million buyback clause. However, the Spanish giants decided against the move.
That was due to Los Blancos failing to offload Dani Ceballos in the summer transfer window. Furthermore, president Florentino Perez wants to sell the Spaniard and Brahim Diaz next year.
This would ensure that room is created for Paz to return to the Bernabeu. With the likes of Arda Guler and Franco Mastantuono on board, competition for a starting berth would still be fierce.
Nonetheless, Perez and head coach Xabi Alonso are extremely impressed with Paz’s progress in Italy. So much so that acquiring him in the summer is deemed an absolute must.
How Much Is Nico Paz’s Buyback Clause?
In the summer transfer window, Como were pushing to restructure Nico Paz’s deal. This would have meant Cesc Fabregas’ side had 100% rights for the Argentine.
However, Real Madrid will not entertain such an idea owing to Paz’s excellent form. Los Blancos turned down the opportunity to bring the attacking midfielder back to Spain.
The buyback clauses for Paz meant Madrid get first dibs on the star. He would have cost €8m this year but instead, Florentino Perez is happy to pay €10m next summer.
If for whatever reason Real didn’t opt to sign Paz in 2026, they can still acquire him for €11m a year later. The LaLiga giants also hold a 50% resale clause if Paz was sold elsewhere.
Nico Paz Stats And Awards
Unsurprisingly, Nico Paz is widely regarded as one of European club soccer’s hottest talents. English Premier League side Tottenham tried to sign him this summer but the 21-year-old wanted to stay in Italy.
During his maiden season with Como, Paz registered six goals and nine assists in 35 Serie A appearances. He was also named in The Athletic’s Serie A Team of the Season. Paz also earned a place in the official Serie A Team of the Season for 2024-25.
The 21-year-old star was also the recipient of the Serie A Best U23 award. With such accolades, it’s easy to see why the likes of Spurs and Real Madrid are vying for his signature.
Overall for Como, Paz has played a total of 39 games. He has netted eight times and provided ten assists.
