Calciomercato report that Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella is closing in on a contract extension with the club. The Azzurri international has enjoyed another monstruous season for the Nerazzurri, playing a huge role in their title push, and is expected to be rewarded for his efforts.
According to Calciomercato, discussions regarding his contract renewal have been steadily progressing and began during Inter’s engagements in Riyadh, and have continued to evolve over recent weeks.
Compared to other players negotiating renewals, including Lautaro Martinez and Denzel Dumfries, Barella appears to be the closest to reaching an agreement. While formal signatures are yet to be inked, a verbal understanding has been established.
Barella has been with the club since 2019, making 226 appearances and scoring 22 goals across five season.
