Fiorentina have strengthened its midfield with the acquisition of Michael Folorunsho The transfer became official after Folorunsho arrived in Florence on the evening of Friday and completed his medical examinations on Saturday morning.

The deal is structured as a loan with an option to buy set at 8 million euros. Folorunsho departs from Antonio Conte’s Napoli after making only six appearances without scoring any goals or providing assists. He will wear the number 90 jersey for Fiorentina.

The official statement from the Viola club reads: “ACF Fiorentina announces that it has acquired, on a temporary basis with an option to buy, the sporting rights of player Michael Folorunsho from SSC Napoli.”

“Folorunsho, born in Rome on February 7, 1998, has previously played for Reggina, Pordenone, and Bari. Last season, wearing the Hellas Verona jersey, he made 34 appearances in Serie A, scoring 5 goals, and was called up to the Italian National team for the European Championship in Germany. The new Viola player will wear the number 90 shirt.”
