OFFICIAL: Italy and Turkey will host EURO 2032

UEFA have officially confirmed that Italy and Turkey will host UEFA Euro 2032 following their successful bid to jointly hold the competition. The two nations were originally preparing individual bids but opted to combine their efforts, and UEFA have now confirmed that five stadiums per country will chosen as venues for the competition.

FIGC President Gravina spoke with Sky Sport Italia following the news and shared his feelings on a historical day:

‘This is a historic turning point for us. We have been chasing this goal for years. If we project ourselves to 2032, after 43 years I think it is the right time to demonstrate the organisational capacity of major events in our country.”

“We have managed to obtain an important period of time to plan well and then realise. We must lay the foundation stone by 1 March 2027. Three stadiums have already been considered positively: we must go further and consider 2032 a great opportunity and a great stimulus to develop and revolutionise the idea and culture of infrastructure in our country.”

“I think it is one of the most important occasions in European football: it is an event for everyone. Any form of physical distance of the two countries can be cancelled out. We have to gather our efforts not only to break down the bureaucracy, but we really have to make an entrepreneurial assessment. Football must be experienced by all families: it must be an opportunity that we must be able to seize. The commissioner can facilitate but is not the solution for the stadiums.”
