“Juventus is a team that has the same tranquillity as its coach: everything is fine, it’s all good, we don’t need to be obsessed, he coddles you,” Panucci stated. “In big teams, you need coaches who turn the locker room upside down when things aren’t going well.”
Panucci reserved his harshest criticism for Koopmeiners: “Koopmeiners is moving at a snail’s pace. At Atalanta, he had Gasperini who used to kick his backside. Maybe Motta needs more time, it’s his first big coaching job too. But at the moment, that’s how it is.”
The Dutch midfielder, who cost Juventus €54 million plus bonuses, has played 21 matches this season, scoring two goals and providing three assists. These numbers fall short of his impressive record at Atalanta, where he netted 29 goals and delivered 15 assists in 129 appearances.
