Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba is reportedly under police protection in Italy after being the victim of an alleged €13m blackmail plot. The Frenchman informed police that his was the victim of a violent extortion attempt by an armed gang which included his own brother, Mathias.
The older Pogba brother is now being held in police custody having reportedly been charged with an offence, while RMC in France report that Paul and his mother are under police protection in Italy for the moment.
Paul has alleged that that he was held at gunpoint during the ordeal and ordered to pay €13m to a gang which included Mathias.
Five men, including Pogba’s brother have now been placed under formal investigation for extortion and criminal association.
