Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba is edging ever closer to making his first appearance for the club, seven months after joining them on a free transfer. The Frenchman arrived last July and was almost immediately injured during a pre-season friendly match in the USA before eventually opting to have knee surgery, forcing him to miss the World Cup and the entire first part of Juve’s season.

Pogba has been slowly recovering in the months since and has finally returned to first team training with the rest of the squad. A recent report from Sky Sport Italia confirmed that tests undertaken in the early part of February revealed no further muscular lesions, effectively giving him the OK to return to the pitch.

A comeback date for the Frenchman has been repeatedly postponed but there is finally positive news as Sky Sport report that both Pogba and teammate Federico Chiesa have recovered fully and are available to be called up for the Bianconeri’s midweek derby match against Torino.

Calciomercato calculate that Pogba’s last competitive appearance came in Manchester United’s 4-0 loss to Liverpool back in April of last year, 315 days ago.

The Frenchman is unlikely to start the game, but is expected to be available from the bench for the first time this season. The 29-year-old enjoyed the most successful period of his career at Juventus, winning four Serie A titles with the Bianconeri, as well as two Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana. He was also part of the Juve squad that made it to the Champions League final in 2016 under coach Max Allegri.
