Calciomercato report that negotiations for an extension began last summer but failed to reach an agreement. However, according to RMC Sport, both parties have recently reconnected and are optimistic about finding common ground. The new proposal from PSG is expected to include a lower fixed salary, in line with the club’s revised financial strategy.
This development comes amidst rumors of interest from Inter Milan, who are reportedly keen on bringing the Italian international back to his homeland. Inter’s current goalkeeper, Yann Sommer, is 11 years older than Donnarumma and also has a contract running until June 2026.
While PSG works to retain Donnarumma, they are also keeping an eye on potential alternatives, including Lille’s French goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, born in 2001.
In related news, PSG have extended the contract of Portuguese left-back Nuno Mendes, a former Sporting Lisbon player born in 2002, until 2030. The club is also looking to secure the future of Spanish coach Luis Enrique, with talks underway for a contract extension until June 2027.
