Radu Dragusin wants to join AS Roma from Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window, according to reports.

Several Serie A clubs have been eyeing Radu Dragusin amid an uncertain future for him at Spurs.

Roma are eyeing Dragusin as Gian Piero Gasperini looks to strengthen his side’s defensive ranks.

AC Milan like Dragusin too, while Fiorentina are also in the picture. However, it looks like the player has made his mind up.

Radu Dragusin wanted at Roma as soon as possible

Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that Radu Dragusin wants Roma, with his agent saying the negotiations are ‘hot’ and moving quickly.

Dragusin is seen as a possible long-term replacement for Evan Ndicka, and Roma would like him in early to settle and be assessed.

New coach Gian Piero Gasperini is said to want Dragusin at Trigoria as soon as possible, to judge him after an 11-month stop.

Roma believe Serie A suits Dragusin, who previously impressed at Genoa before moving to Spurs.

Sporting director Frederic Massara is planning to look at strengthening the defence in the second half of the January window.

The club’s thinking is also about the summer, because Ndicka could be sold to help balance the books under financial rules.

Having arrived on a free transfer in 2023, Ndicka would represent a net gain. He apparently has ‘half the Premier League’ eyeing him.

Tottenham’s Radu Dragusin stance and what happens next

The main sticking point for Roma’s pursuit of Radu Dragusin is the formula.

Roma would like a loan with an option, but Tottenham want any buy clause to become an obligation.

That approach would protect Spurs financially and avoid the risk of Dragusin returning after a short spell, especially if he plays regularly.

Reports in England also say Tottenham have already rejected a straight loan move for Dragusin from Roma.

The clubs will keep talking in the next few days, with Roma trying to find a structure that satisfies Tottenham.
