Why Sunderland Could Play Key Role In Juventus’ Randal Kolo Muani Pursuit

The latest Randal Kolo Muani transfer news has revealed that Sunderland could be key in unlocking the Frenchman’s return to Juventus. 

Regis Le Bris side has already signed 10 players this summer. They include the likes of Granit Xhaka, Simon Adingra and club-record acquisition Habib Diarra.

However, the Mackems squad overhaul shows no signs of slowing with a Juve star very much on Le Bris’ radar. As strange as it may seem, if a deal can be agreed for the defender, Kolo Muani could be on his way back to the Allianz Stadium.

After his impressive loan spell in the second-half of 2024-25, Juventus has been pushing to sign Randal Kolo Muani on a permanent deal.

Juve – who is +550 with Serie A betting sites to win the Scudetto this season – have encountered some financial implications in their pursuit of Kolo Muani.

The main issues being that a number of loan stars were drafted in with obligations to buy this summer. That has trimmed the Old Lady’s budget somewhat and strengthening other areas of the roster has also chipped away at vital funds.

Kolo Muani is being pursued by a number of teams in Italy and across the continent. However, his preferred destination has always been Turin but current Juve defender Lloyd Kelly could play a major part in the deal.

Sunderland Interested In Lloyd Kelly

Sunderland are on the brink of completing their 11th signing of the summer with Omar Alderete set to join from Getafe. However, the Black Cats are also interested in another defender – Lloyd Kelly.

The former Newcastle man only joined Juventus on a permanent deal this summer. Kelly spent the second-half of last season on loan at the Bianconeri but Igor Tudor is happy to ship him on.

The Old Lady had an obligation to buy Kelly from the Magpies which was sealed for €17.5million. Now, the Serie A giants are willing to do business for €18-20m with the Mackems very much interested.

If a deal in that region can be struck, it would free up cash to sign Randal Kolo Muani. It’s understood that current employers PSG would be willing to let the France international leave for around €35m.

Juventus 2025-26 Signings

So far this summer, Juventus have signed seven players. That includes Lloyd Kelly from Newcastle. The Old Lady have also spent €28m on Nico Gonzalez from Fiorentina.

A further €32m was splashed out on Francisco Conceicao with Joao Mario joining from Porto for €13m. The most impressive newbie – on paper at least – is surely that of Jonathan David.

The Canadian international joined on a free transfer from Lille. Nonetheless, the Bianconeri will be desperate to add Randal Kolo Muani to their roster.

Last year, Kolo Muani scored 10 goals across 22 appearances in all competitions. He also scored in his opening three Serie A games for the club. A feat that was last completed by Roberto Baggio 35 years ago.
