The striker, who joined on loan from Manchester United at the start of the season, has already scored seven goals for the Serie A champions, having settled seamlessly into life back in Serie A.

Despite Romelu Lukaku’s return from injury, Hojlund led the line again for Antonio Conte’s side, who had looked to bounce back from two consecutive defeats.

The frontman, and indeed the entire team, responded in style, winning 2-0 in Riyadh to book their spot in the final.

David Neres broke the deadlock before half-time after Hojlund squared the ball into a dangerous area, before the Dane got on the scoresheet himself, finding the back of the net with a powerful strike on 63 minutes.

Rasmus Hojlund Praised By Italian Press

Numerous publications in Italy gave him a glowing verdict, with one even labelling him a ‘one-man show’.

Eurosport handed him an 8/10 rating, writing: “Unstoppable. His movement gives the team depth, and it’s no coincidence that the 1-0 goal came from his initiative.

“He always wants the ball and runs the pitch alone, then he takes matters into his own hands and makes it 2-0 with a powerful move. A fantastic night.”

Corriere della Sera also gave him an 8. “Unstoppable, unstoppable, indomitable. Take your pick,” they wrote.

“One thing is certain: he would have been so useful to AC Milan, who had long courted him in the summer. And so useful to Napoli, who can count on his killer instinct. The first goal is half his, the second is all his.”

Tuttosport went for a 7.5, focusing on how Hojlund was able to get the better of Koni De Winter, who was poor.

Dishing out an 8, Il Messaggero went as far as describing the 22-year-old as “perfect” for Napoli, despite Lukaku making the bench and seemingly pushing to reclaim his spot in the starting XI.

The ratings were a stark contrast to last weekend, when the media savaged Hojlund’s “unforgivable” performance against Udinese.

Antonio Conte Wants Rasmus Hojlund To Stay

Post-match, Conte praised Hojlund’s impact on the semi-final, but believes there is still more to come.

“As for Hojlund, he’s a 22-year-old with significant potential. The more he plays with us, the better he understands the things I ask of him,” Conte said, via Tuttomercato.

“Today, he was decisive. We’re talking about a young player who can still grow a lot. We’re holding on to him and hope to recover Lukaku as soon as possible, and then there’s [Lorenzo] Lucca, who’s also improving.”
