What Napoli Must Achieve In Order To Sign Rasmus Hojlund On A Permanent Deal

With October’s international break on the horizon, the Rasmus Hojlund Napoli deal is already paying dividends. 

Hojlund’s resurgence in Naples has been truly remarkable. The Danish international scored the decisive goal in Gli Azzurri’s comeback win against Genoa on MD6.

Having struggled during his time with Manchester United, the former Atalanta star is already a fan’s favorite at the Diego Maradona Stadium.

Now, supporters will be wondering about the key terms of Hojlund’s season-long loan and what conditions must be met to make the deal permanent.

After two largely disappointing seasons in Manchester, Rasmus Hojlund has found a new lease of life at Napoli. Not only has he rediscovered his scoring touch, the 22-year-old is playing with a smile on his face.

Something of which was a rarity at Old Trafford. Although his spell with the Red Devils wasn’t by any means disastrous, Hojlund failed to hit the heights expected of him after his €82million move from Atalanta in 2023.

Hojlund made the temporary switch to Naples last month for a fee of €6m. The season-long loan does include an obligation to buy.

However, that will only become active if Antonio Conte’s side qualifies for the 2026-27 Champions League. Something of which they are widely expected to achieve as a minimum this term.

If Gli Azzurri finishes in the top four, they will pay United a further €44m to sign him permanently. As it stands, that will look like a bargain.

And it’s not just Hojlund who could flourish in Italy. Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is also on Conte’s radar. If he were to join, he would be linking back up with Hojlund and MVP Scott McTominay.

Rasmus Hojlund has enjoyed an electric start to life with the 2024-25 Scudetto winners. Hojlund netted on his Napoli debut after just 14 minutes as Gli Azzurri beat Fiorentina 3-1 at the Artemio Franchi on MD3.

After blanking against Manchester City in the Champions League and Pisa in Serie A, Hojlund scored both goals against Sporting on MD2 of the UCL. Former City star Kevin De Bruyne provided both assists.

His latest effort proved to be the matchwinner as Gli Azzurri returned to the top of the summit with a 2-1 win against Genoa on October 5.

His four goals in six appearances across all competitions perfectly demonstrate that Hojlund has it in his locker to rack up the desired numbers for a modern day forward.

Although it is still early days, the signs are extremely positive for the 22-year-old who looked discontent at Old Trafford. Especially after he really struggled to hit the target in the second-half of 2024-25.

Nonetheless, Hojlund’s transformation and ultimate reward for his hard work is hugely positive from Napoli’s perspective. As it stands, it could well be the Dane’s goals that quite literally seal the deal on his permanent transfer.
