The Real Betis vs Como brawl was undoubtedly the huge talking point from across the soccer world on Wednesday.

Chaotic scenes ensued when a number of players traded blows in the so-called friendly encounter in La Linea de la Concepcion, Cadiz.

Supporters looked on in disbelief at the carnage on the pitch which tarnished what was a thrilling match. It’s fair to say that both sides have certainly found their competitive edge ahead of the new season.

Real Betis Vs Como Brawl

The Real Betis vs Como brawl erupted at the end of the first half at the Estadio Municipal. Betis’ Pablo Fornals and Como’s Maximo Perrone squared up to each other and came to blows in scenes that resembled a Rocky movie.

Players from Cesc Fabregas’ side – who are +500 with offshore sportsbooks to finish in the top four this season – came rushing in to clash with their opponents.

Fornals struck Perrone before the latter tried to retaliate. From that moment, pure carnage ensued whereby a number of stars from both sides tried grappling with each other.

A rather unfortunate moment occurred when Betis’ Cucho Hernandez tried to weigh in a Como player. Instead, the striker landed a blow on his own team-mate, Natan.

Once tempers cooled, Fornals amazingly avoided a red card despite landing the first blow. Perrone was less unfortunate and was given his marching orders. So to did Hector Bellerin for his animated protests.

Last month, Fabregas gave a rousing speech to his new summer additions after they impressed during the 3-0 win over Ajax. Now, the Spaniard may be providing a more firmer talk to Perrone and co. after the Cadiz conflict.

Will The FIGC Suspend Como Players?

After Maximo Perrone saw red, will the Como star and any of his team-mates face suspension from the FIGC? The Argentine midfielder will definitely miss the Joan Gamper Trophy final vs Barcelona this Sunday. That is an automatic one-match ban applied to the next friendly match.

However, the FIGC can decide to sanction a longer suspension if they deem that the offensive warrants it. A fine can also be imposed if they feel it is just and deserved.

Therefore, Perrone could potentially miss the Serie A opener against Lazio on August 24. Suspensions don’t typically apply in Serie A if received in a friendly but the FIGC may make an exception.

Although it is unlikely, it can’t be completely ruled out. A fine is perhaps the most feasible outcome for Perrone and any other players that the FIGC feel warrants it.

Real Betis Vs Como Result

After the on-field boxing match stole all the headlines, it’s easy to forget that the game itself was a brilliant end-to-end affair. Como edged the clash 3-2 in La Linea.

Assane Diao opened the scoring in the fourth minute for the Serie A side. He missed a penalty but was on hand to deposit the rebound from the six-yard line.

Cesc Fabregas’ men then went 2-0 up thanks to a stunning strike from Lucas Da Cunha. His effort in the 36th minute put the Italians firmly in control.

After the players tried going 12 rounds with each other on the stroke of half-time, Betis came out fighting again in the second-half and were rewarded for their efforts.

Isco scored from the spot before Junior Firpo tied the match just after the hour mark. However, the Biancoblu snatched victory at the end thanks to Ivan Azon who slotted home from a tight angle.
