Following a challenging loan stint with AS Roma, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Renato Sanches is poised to return to his boyhood club, Benfica, on another loan deal.
Sanches joined PSG in 2022 but struggled to make an impact during his first season in the French capital, largely due to injuries. Seeking more playing time, he moved to Roma last summer on a one-year loan. Unfortunately, his time in Italy was marred by further physical setbacks, limiting him to just 12 appearances across all competitions.
Le Parisien report how, looking to revive his career, the 26-year-old is now on the verge of rejoining Benfica for the upcoming season. This move has been facilitated by the expected transfer of Joao Neves to PSG, which is anticipated to be finalized in the coming days.
To make the deal more attractive, PSG has reportedly offered to loan Sanches under very favorable conditions, including covering his salary, thus reducing the high transfer fee initially demanded by Benfica.
