FootItalia understands that the champions are set to go toe-to-toe with Atalanta for the 24-year-old Brazilian. Head coach Antonio Conte believes the Cottagers star would make a suitable replacement for the injured Romelu Lukaku.
Conte is hoping to move quick and get the deal done before this weekend’s Serie A opener against newly-promoted Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium.

Rodrigo Muniz Transfer News
After it was confirmed on August 18 that Napoli striker Romelu Lukaku would miss the next three months of action, head coach Antonio Conte is keen to find a replacement.
The Azzurri boss has quickly turned his attention to Rodrigo Muniz. However, the Serie A winners face stiff competition from Atalanta for his signature.
The Bergamo side have been long-term admirers of Muniz. He is the top choice to fill the void left by Mateo Retegui and viewed as the main Ademola Lookman replacement.
Nonetheless, negotiations have hit a stumbling block with Fulham wanting approximately €50million. Ivan Juric’s men have offered closer to €40m so more negotiating will need to be done.
That news has created an opening for Conte to try and take advantage of. Even though the champions have spent almost €90m this summer, they still have funds to transfer in more players before the window shuts.
Would Rodrigo Muniz Consider Napoli?
Rodrigo Muniz has struggled to cement a regular place at Fulham so it’s no surprise to see him linked with a move away from Craven Cottage.
On August 16, Muniz scored a 97th minute equalizer against Brighton. He came off the bench to do so and he is apparently unhappy at not being started by boss Marco Silva.
Atalanta’s interest is unsurprising as they need to increase their attacking options. However, a potential move to Naples would be very hard to resist.
The opportunity to be managed by Antonio Conte and play alongside Kevin De Bruyne is a hugely attractive proposition. And of course, Muniz would be guaranteed plenty of minutes owing to Napoli’s need for forwards.
Romelu Lukaku’s injury has only accelerated the champions interest. Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen’s permanent departure along with Giovanni Simeone and Giacomo Raspadori means Muniz will definately get his chance.
Rodrigo Muniz Fulham Stats
Ever since Rodrigo Muniz moved to Fulham in 2021, he has quickly established himself as a fans favorite in west London. That despite struggling to nail down a regular starting berth.
During his first season with the Cottagers, Muniz netted five times in 25 EFL Championship appearances. In his following two Premier League seasons, Muniz scored 21 goals.
The Brazilian also won the Player of the Month award in March 2024 after a rich vein of form in front of goal. He also scored a stunning bicycle kick vs Sheffield Utd which earned him Fulham’s Goal of the Season award in 2023-24.
Overall, Muniz has scored 27 times in 98 appearances across all competitions. He also has three assists to his name since joining the club.
From Napoli’s perspective, Muniz’s stats are still impressive considering he is often benched. It’s now down to Antonio Conte to outmuscle Atalanta and convince the 24-year-old to transfer to Naples.
