Roma and Juventus are once again engaging in transfer negotiations, with Portuguese defender Tiago Djalo at the center of discussions. Following the successful transfers of Huijsen in January and Soule in July, the two clubs are maintaining open lines of communication.
Calciomercato report how Roma’s sporting director Ghisolfi is actively pursuing Djalo, with constant contact reported in recent hours. The former Lille player, who doesn’t feature in Thiago Motta’s plans at Juventus, has requested a transfer.
The proposed deal structure involves a loan with an option to buy, a formula that both clubs seem amenable to. This arrangement could prove crucial in finalizing the transfer.
Juventus has set their asking price at €1 million for the initial loan, with a €6 million option to buy plus bonuses. While Roma’s initial offer was around €5 million in total, they now appear willing to meet Juventus’ demands.
The positive relationship between Djalo’s agents and Roma could play a decisive role in pushing the deal through. As negotiations progress, it seems increasingly likely that the 23-year-old defender will be wearing the Giallorossi colors in the near future.
This transfer, if completed, would mark another successful piece of business between the two Italian giants, potentially benefiting all parties involved. Juventus stands to make a profit on a player surplus to requirements, while Roma would strengthen their defensive options with a promising young talent.
