Roma Set To Sign Robinio Vaz With €25m Deal ‘Very Close’ For Marseille Striker
The young striker is expected to seal his switch to Roma shortly.
Roma are set to sign promising Marseille striker Robinio Vaz, according to reports.
Roma Robinio Vaz Deal Imminent
Gianluca Di Marzio has described the imminent switch as a ‘coup’ for the club, who have been scrambling for attacking reinforcements after talks with Gian Piero Gasperini this month.
The Giallorossi are determined to reinforce the squad with new additions for both the present and the future, and Vaz, aged just 18, certainly ticks both boxes.
Talks over a loan with an obligation to buy are believed to be at an advanced stage, and the deal is now expected to proceed. According to Di Marzio, the eye-catching switch will be worth around €25million.
Crucially, Vaz has already given the green light and is expected to arrive in Rome later this week.
The talent has made 19 senior appearances this season, scoring four goals. He has also been handed four substitute cameos in the Champions League, including 19 minutes in the 1-0 defeat by Atalanta in November.
Despite being tipped for a bright future in France, discussions over a new contract with Vaz stalled. Per L’Equipe, the teenager’s demands did not align with Marseille’s terms, opening the door for a shock departure.
This allowed Roma to swoop, with the transfer now rapidly nearing completion.

Roma Fight Off Fierce Competition
Roma reacted quickly after Gasperini dodged his post-match media duties following the win against Lecce. He is believed to have wanted to avoid questions on the club’s sluggish transfer business.
The 67-year-old had requested four new additions, including Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee and Atletico Madrid’s Giacomo Raspadori.
However, due to complications arising in both deals, the Giallorossi set their sights elsewhere.
France U20 international Vaz appeared on their radar, but the club have not ruled out also bringing in a senior forward as they look to compete for a Champions League place.
As reported by FootItalia, Aston Villa’s Donyell Malen is a target, too.
Vaz represented a no-brainer market opportunity, especially in light of the competition from overseas.
According to RomaPress, Manchester United, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund all made moves for the youngster. Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan and Napoli were also circling for his signature.
