Roma Submit Improved Offer For Atletico Madrid Star Giacomo Raspadori
Atletico can afford to take their time amid interest from Galatasaray alongside Roma...
Roma have submitted a slightly improved offer to Atletico Madrid for Italy forward Giacomo Raspadori, according to reports from Spain.
Roma proposal for Giacomo Raspadori falls short of Atletico asking price
The Giallorossi want a loan deal with a purchase option, while Atletico are holding out for a higher fee.
Things could develop quickly in January, with Galatasaray also tracking Raspadori if Atletico decide Roma’s terms are not enough.
According to Spanish outlet AS, Roma’s proposal is a €2m loan with an option to buy worth €17m.
This offer is a follow-up to a €2m loan plus €15m option from Roma, to which Atletico responded with a ‘firm rejection’.
Despite the improved offer, Atletico don’t want to let Raspadori leave for less than the €22m they signed him for.
Atletico would prefer a mandatory purchase option and a higher price, something Roma are apparently not convinced about.
This is because the Giallorossi’s budget will depending on how they fare in Serie A and whether they get into Europe.
For the moment, the two sides still seem far apart, especially regarding the financial terms.
Roma also have to be mindful of interest from Galatasaray, who are also keen on Raspadori.
There is a risk Atletico could turn their attentions to dealing with the Turkish club if they offer better terms.
Atletico and Raspadori: Their respective stances
For Atletico, the priority is financial. Their bottom line is tied to recouping their original outlay for Raspadori.
In terms of the player’s future, AS reports that Atletico have told him they’re happy with his performances.
Meanwhile, Raspadori is not happy with the relative lack of game time on offer at the Wanda Metropolitano.
He wants first-team minutes, especially considering 2026 is a World Cup year and Italy still have a chance of getting there.
FootItalia previously reported that Raspadori is keen on Roma.
As things stand, there’s a bit of a stand-off in place, with Atletico happy to wait amid more urgency from Raspadori and Roma.
And with Galatasaray potentially coming into the picture, Atletico can afford to wait for a better offer – or for Roma to increase theirs.
A busy January transfer window on the cards as Roma look to strengthen in multiple positions.
