Roma’s Full-Back Crisis: De Rossi Seeks Reinforcements

Roma’s transfer market is heating up as the club faces a critical shortage of full-backs. Following the departures of several key players, manager Daniele De Rossi has urgently requested reinforcements for both the right and left sides of defense.

Calciomercaro report how on the right flank, the situation is particularly dire. Rasmus Kristensen has returned to Leeds United after his loan spell, while Rick Karsdorp is close to joining Besiktas. With Diego Llorente also gone, Zeki Celik remains the only natural right-back in the squad.

The left side is equally concerning, as Leonardo Spinazzola’s move to Napoli and De Rossi’s preference to use Nicola Zalewski in a more advanced role leaves Angelino as the sole option.

To address these issues, Roma’s new technical director Florent Ghisolfi is exploring several targets. For the right-back position, Lorenz Assignon from Stade Rennais is a top candidate. The 23-year-old French defender has recently returned from a loan at Burnley. Saud Abdulhamid from Al-Hilal is considered a backup option.

On the left, Samuel Dahl, a 20-year-old Swedish defender from Djurgardens, has emerged as a leading target. Despite the player’s interest in joining Roma, negotiations are still in the early stages. Antonino Gallo from Lecce is another option, though his club is reluctant to sell.
