Salernitana are expected to make Boulaye Dia’s loan move a permanent one this summer by exercising their option to sign him. The 26-year-old joined I Granata from Villarreal last summer on a season long loan which includes a €12m option to sign him outright in June.
His agent Frederic Guerra recently revealed to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli that a number of clubs were interested in signing the striker, including Napoli:
“I don’t know about Dia’s future at Salernitana for the moment. The important thing is for Salernitana to stay in Serie A to sign him outright, which hasn’t happened yet. We will wait and after that, we will see what happens.”
“For now, I can’t say anything. Does (Napoli director) Giuntoli like him? He is following him, but he has plenty of admirers in England and France as well.”
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano now reports that with Salernitana having confirmed their place in Serie A for next season, the club have triggered the option to sign Dia. There’s no word yet if they will keep him for next campaign, or chose to cash-in and potentially make a profit on the striker.
The Senegalese international has found the net 15 times in Serie A this season for the Granata, scoring close to 40% of their total goals in 2022-23.
