Sassuolo are closing in on the signing of Nice defender Mattia Viti and are expected to take him on loan for the 2023024 season. The 21-year-old is a product of Empoli’s youth academy and only made the move to France last summer, joining Nice in a reported €13 million deal.
Sky Sport Italia now claim that the prodigious talent is close to a return to Serie A, with Sassuolo expected to make a concerted effort to sign him in the weeks ahead.
According to the report, Viti is set to be reunited with coach Alessio Dionisi who coached him at Empoli, as Sassuolo prepare to take him on loan for the upcoming campaign.
The parties are very close to an agreement, with the negotiation in the final straight, the deal being built around a loan with the right to sign the defender outright in June 2024.
