Juventus have confirmed that defender Mattia De Sciglio has injured the cruciate ligaments in his right knee. The full-back was stretched offer during Juve’s 2-1 win over Lecce and this latest injury means his season is effectively over. Juventus have confirmed that De Sciglio will be required to have surgery via an official statement on their website:

Mattia De Sciglio, following today’s injury to his right knee, underwent diagnostic tests at J|Medical which revealed damage to the anterior cruciate ligament. Surgery will therefore be necessary in the next few days.

The estimated recovery time could be between 5-8 months, meaning another lengthy setback for the 30-year-old who has already spent large periods of his Bianconeri career on the sidelines.
