How Will Atalanta Lineup In 2025/26 Season?
After nine-years in Bergamo, Gian Piero Gasperini left his post as Atalanta manager at the end of the 2024/25 campaign and begins a new spell with AS Roma.
Coming in with the difficult task of filling the veteran manager’s shoes is former Southampton boss, Ivan Juric, who is coming off a disappointing spell with the Saints – finishing bottom of the Premier League.
His introduction to the job has been far from easy, as the Croatian has been forced to deal with the controversy surrounding Ademola Lookman after the Nigerian made a public transfer request.
The Atalanta star took to social media to vent his frustrations and looked to be on his way to Inter Milan, but the Nerazzurri have reportedly ended their pursuit after La Dea rejected a $54m bid.
Now, the Nigerian international is set to receive a heavy fine for missing training and every pre-season encounter so far, but Lookman could still be on the move this summer after attracting interest from Arsenal.
Losing such a vital part of his team will not have been on Juric’s initial itineary for this season, especially after Mateo Retegui completed a monstrous deal to Saudi Arabia in July.
However, Atalanta have brought in multiple players to help soften the blow, as Nicola Zalewski joined the club from Inter for around $17m, Kamaldeen Sulemana followed Juric from Southampton to Bergamo in the early stages of the summer window and a host of loanees from last season have completed permanent deals.
Additionally, Atalanta have managed to keep a hold of Brazilian midfielder Ederson so far and he is set to sit in the centre of midfield alongside Mario Pasalic.
During his first pre-season run as Atalanta boss, Juric has deployed a back-three and Giorgio Scalvini, Odilon Kossounou and Isak Hien appears to be the preferred trio.
The number one position is unlikely to be altered from last season and Marco Carnesecchi will be Juric’s leading option between the sticks after two impressive seasons in Bergamo.
Atalanta Predicted Lineup 2025/26
Have Atalanta Ever Won Serie A?
Gian Piero Gasperini left his role as Atalanta manager with huge admiration from supporters, after consistently finishing in the top four and ending a 61-year trophy drought.
This singular piece of silverware came in the 2023/24 season, as Atalanta beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in the Europa League final and Ademola Lookman became the first player to score a hat-trick in the competitions’s deciding match.
Picking up the Europa League trophy was a monumental day for Atalanta, as domestic success has been a real struggle for La Dea despite many fans claiming the Coppa Italia favors Serie A sides.
Atalanta have only won Italy’s primary cup competition once and La Dea have never managed to win the Serie A title, despite competing in the league on 64 occasions.
The Italian side are on the rise, finishing third in Serie A last season, but will face a huge challenge in 2025/26 after losing their leading talisman and with Lookman’s exit looking increasingly more likely.
