Former Inter Milan star, Miranda, has issued a scathing rant over Luciano Spalletti – labeling the Juventus manager as the ‘worst coach’ from his career.

Former Inter Milan Star Slams Luciano Spalletti

After picking up his first Champions League win as Juventus manager, Luciano Spalletti has been brought back into the headlines after recent comments from Brazilian defender, Miranda.

The 41-year-old signed for Inter Milan on a two-year loan deal with an obligation to buy in July 2015, but his impressive performances pushed the Nerazzurri into a permanent deal in the following summer.

Roberto Mancini held the reins at Inter during Miranda’s arrival, but the Italian parted ways with the club just a month after the Brazilian joined on a permanent basis.

Frank de Boer and Stefano Pioli took charge for the remainder of the 2016/17 season, before Luciano Spalletti was appointed in July 2017 and the relationship between the Italian and Miranda got off to a strong start.

During the 2017/18 season, Miranda made 31 starts in Serie A and accumulated 2729 minutes in Italy’s top-flight, but the following season is where things started to fall apart.

The Brazilian defender made just 14 appearances in the league during the 2018/19 campaign and Miranda revealed that this lack of playing-time came after an argument with Spalletti.

Miranda said: “After one argument, in my last year with Inter, I started to play less and less. Then it’s difficult to get into your best condition, especially if you only find yourself playing in big games.”

After falling-out with Spalletti, Miranda left Inter as his deal with the Nerazzurri expired in June 2019 and Spalletti was relieved of his duties during the same summer.

Spalletti has found success since his time with Inter, winning Serie A with Napoli, managing the Italian national team and most recently, managing Juventus.

The Italian secured a huge result in the Bianconeri’s latest outing, as Jonathan David ended his goal-drought against Bodo/Glimt to clinch Juventus’ first win in the Champions League.

Spalletti Known For Public Issues With Players

The Juventus manager has built a reputation for falling-out with players during his time as a manager, as Miranda is not the only player to have taken issue with the Italian.

During his time with Inter Milan, Spalletti stripped Mauro Icardi of the captaincy after the Argentine refused to apologize after his former wife and agent, Wanda Nara, claimed that Icardi would score more goals with better teammates.

Icardi was eventually exiled from the Inter Milan squad and highlighted Spalletti’s no-nonsense approach to management.

Other examples of this include the Italian’s issue with Cristian Panucci during his time as Roma boss and public dispute with Igor Denisov and Roman Shirokov at Zenit.

Miranda’s view on Spalletti holds extra weight as the Brazilian played under Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid, who is renowned for his ability to form relationships with players.

The Argentine’s tenure with Atletico Madrid could be coming to an end in 2026, as Simeone has pushed for a move to Inter Milan in the near future.

Simeone’s approach is vastly different to Spalleti’s and Miranda claimed that the Juventus manager was the worst coach he worked under during his career.

Miranda said: “As a coach, there’s nothing to say. He’s a winner. He brought Inter back to the Champions League and laid the foundations for the future. But as a man, let’s leave it at that. The worst coach I had in Italy in that sense.”
