Timothy Weah looks set to leave Juventus this summer and the American’s agent has slammed the Italian side for their treatment of the 25-year-old.
Why Do Juventus Want To Sell Timothy Weah?
Rumors over a departure from Turin this summer have been circulating over recent weeks, after the USMNT star was left out of Juventus’ Club World Cup clash against Manchester City.
The American was deemed fit to play, so his exclusion from the side would suggest that Juventus are looking to offload Weah during this summer transfer window.
Since Igor Tudor took the reins at Juventus, Weah has struggled to get consistent playing time in Turin and made just three Serie A starts under the Croatian.
Another Juventus star is dealing with the same issue as William Mbangula is also set to leave the club this summer and is not a part of Tudor’s plans.
Juventus are reportedly willing to accept a rather low offer for the duo, entertaining bids of around $25 million – which is for both players not individually.
This may be down to the fact that Juve did not pay a lot for Weah, costing the Italian side around $12m and Mbangula joined the club for just $600k as a youngster.
Tudor will be looking to strengthen this summer, as Juventus are outsiders to win the league on Serie A betting sites, and may use thesen departures to fund future moves.
One man that is not best pleased with how Juve have dealt with this situation is Weah’s agent, Badou Sambague, who labelled The Old Lady’s approach as a ‘shame’.
Sambague said: “Weah is a fantastic player and a fantastic teammate. To see people acting like this for money and because they are selfish disappointed me a lot. This is a shame.
“Anyway, until I’m here, nobody will push one of the players I advise to go on the right or on the left like a marionette. I am happy that Timo has a top education and a top personality to stay focused on the game.”
Why Did Weah Decline Nottingham Forest Move?
Upon hearing the news over Juventus’ acceptance over losing Weah this summer, Nottingham Forest reportedly entered negotiations to sign both the American and Mbangula for around $25m.
However, Weah has now rejected the opportunity to join the Premier League side and never had any intention of making the switch to play under Nuno Espirito Santo.
Weah landed himself in hot water recently for his comments over the food in Italy, as the USMNT player claimed that Italian cuisine lacked variety.
This comment will obviously play no part in Juve’s decision to sell the winger this summer, but a sense of disengagement with the fans can’t have helped.
Weah has made 78 appearances for Juventus since signing for the club in 2023 and during this time, the American has scored just seven goals and contributed with seven assists.
