Santiago Gimenez Shuts Down AC Milan Exit Rumors Despite Massimiliano Allegri Questions Over Mexican International

Start

Santiago Gimenez has shut down any rumors over an exit from AC Milan this summer despite Massimiliano Allegri’s search for a striker.

Does Santiago Gimenez Want To Leave AC Milan?

The Mexican international signed for the Rossoneri during the January transfer window after an impressive spell with Eredivisie side, Feyenoord scoring 65 goals in 105 appearances.

Gimenez was out straight into the stating eleven, making six consecutive starts in Serie A before being dropped to the bench after a run of poor performances.

The 24-year-old went on to make an impact from the bench, most notably scoring twice against Bologna which earned him a place in the starting lineup in the following match against Roma – where Gimenez was sent off after just 21 minutes.

Such a poor end to the season left many fans questioning Gimenez’s future in the side and this was put into further doubt after the Sergio Conceicao, the manager who signed Gimenez, parted ways with Milan and was replaced my Massimiliano Allegri.

The veteran manager is reportedly looking into the possibility of signing another goalscorer this summer, with Thomas Muller willing to make a move to Milan after his contract with Bayern Munich came to an end.

Despite these rumors over a new talisman heading to the San Siro, Gimenez has revealed that he wants to keep his place as an AC Milan player and claims he is ‘living the dream’.

Gimenez said: “I feel at home in Milan, I’m living a dream, I thank God for giving me the chance to be in such a big team as Milan. I think there were a lot of rumours that I could leave, but I’m very happy there.

“I spoke with the management, with the coaching staff, and the idea is that I stay. I will try to show my best version, because I don’t want to waste an opportunity like this.”

Are any clubs interested in Santiago Gimenez?

If Milan do add another striker to their ranks then Gimenez may be forced out of the San Siro, whether it’s during this summer window or later down the line in January.

The Mexican contributed to nine goals in 16 appearances for Milan last season, scoring six goals and adding another three assists – which is not a poor return for a player that is still adapting to a new country.

With four-years remaining on his deal in Milan, any move for the former Feyenoord star would need to be in the region of $35-40 million and may even come as a loan deal with a buy-option in the future.

Gimenez has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent years and Nottingham Forest are reportedly huge admirers of the Mexican.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will compete in Europe next season after their miraculous display in the 2024/25 campaign and will need to add some firepower to compete across all competitions.

Forest are on the hunt for a striker this summer, being the favourites to sign Brentford talisman Yoane Wissa and the best betting apps, which could make Gimenez a possible target this summer.

Chris Wood may not be able to contribute with the same level of goals he managed in the last campaign and Taiwo Awoniyi is still recovering from abdominal surgery, making Gimenez a tempting target.
