Atalanta And Napoli Join Juventus In The Race For Ex-Premier League Star With €9m Release Clause

Start

The latest Wilfred Ndidi transfer news has revealed that Atalanta and Napoli have joined the race for the Leicester star.

Ndidi has a release clause of just €9million after the Foxes were relegated from the Premier League last season. The 28-year-old is already being pursued by Juventus as he plots his future away from the King Power Stadium.

Interest in the Nigerian international is expected to increase in the coming days. Man United have already been linked with Ndidi alongside clubs from France, Saudi Arabia, Spain and Turkey.

Ndidi has been with Leicester since 2017. He was part of the roster who won the 2021 FA Cup and also won the 2023-24 EFL Championship.

Wilfred Ndidi Transfer News

FootItalia insiders have said that both Atalanta and Napoli are both interested in Wilfred Ndidi. The Serie A duo are looking to add a defensive midfielder to their ranks and the 28-year-old is available for a knockdown price.

Ndidi can leave current employers Leicester for as little as €9m. The Dea and the Azzurri both have Champions League soccer to navigate next year and believe Ndidi has the experience to help in their quest for success in the competition.

Juventus are already one of the favorites to sign the Nigerian international. Igor Tudor’s side are expected to lose Douglas Luiz and although not a like-for-like replacement, Ndidi’s presence would reinforce numbers in the middle of the pitch.

The best Bitcoin betting sites have also shortened their prices on Ndidi to make the switch to Serie A this summer. However, a list of potential suitors from all over the continent are ready to throw their names into the mix.

Why Do Atalanta Want Wilfred Ndidi?

Although new head coach Ivan Juric doesn’t typically play an out-and-out defensive midfielder in his 3-4-2-1 formation, he would like someone of Wilfred Ndidi’s skillset to operate as a holding midfielder when called upon.

The former Southampton boss has already signed DM Kamaldeen Sulemana to perform in that role. However, Martin de Roon turns 35 next year and there are still doubts over Ederson’s future at the Gewiss.

Therefore, adding Ndidi to his roster is something that Juric desires. He is aware of his attributes owing to his short time in England and believes he would suit Italian soccer.

Is Wilfred Ndidi Good Enough For Napoli?

With Antonio Conte eager to reunite with free agent Cesar Azpilicueta, the Napoli boss is also keeping an eye on Wilfred Ndidi this summer.

Conte has already seen talks with USMNT star Yunus Musah stall recently. Therefore, adding Ndidi to the Azzurri roster would make sense.

It would also be a cheaper alternative than spending unnecessary funds on someone like Musah. Midfielder Frank Anguissa looks likely to stay in Naples so Ndidi would have to graft for a place in the starting XI.

Conte typically adopts a 3-5-2 formation and utilizes wingbacks for attacking phases of play. Therefore meaning a defensive midfielder like Ndidi would prove vital to his style of play.
