In an interview with Raisport ahead of Italy’s Nations League match against Belgium, national team coach Luciano Spalletti addressed the recent Inter-ultras controversy and shared his thoughts on the upcoming game.

Regarding the situation involving Simone Inzaghi and the ultras, Spalletti, a former Inter coach himself, stated: “I can say that I have never experienced situations like those of Simone Inzaghi, neither in Milan nor at other times in my career. It has never happened that someone called me for these things; it’s a novelty that surprised me. Because then I don’t know what the previous relationships were: someone calls you, you don’t know them, you’ve never had anything to do with them, I think it’s difficult to exchange words. I answer everyone, even numbers I don’t know, but then I know how to hang up.”

Turning his attention to the national team and the match against Belgium, Spalletti expressed confidence in his squad: “We have rediscovered our individual and team qualities. We are more aware now to face a delicate match like this. Paris was perhaps a click, one of those moments, those results, that give confidence for the future, to be calmer when you have to absorb pressure.”

Discussing the key to the game, Spalletti emphasized tactical discipline: “The key to the match is this: staying in order even if you lose the ball, because they have those four very fast players up front who can hurt you. We need to be good at one-on-one and doubling up where they have something extra. And they’re not missing anyone; maybe these players would have played even if others were available.”
