Sportitalia director Michele Criscitiello is adamant that Antonio Conte’s priority is to join Milan, but Napoli are also interested in the former Spurs coach. Conte has been out of work since last year, having been sacked by Tottenham following a string of poor performances and personal outbursts from the former Bianconeri boss.
Criscitiello claims that Milan are thinking about a successor to Stefano Pioli for this summer, and Conte is the clubs first choice.
The suggestion is that Conte is the most realistic option, as Roberto De Zerbi does not want to leave Brighton, while the step up to the Rossoneri bench might be too much for Bologna coach Thiago Motta.
Criscitiello claims that Conte’s priority is Milan, but Rossoneri CEO Giorgio Furlani will need to be convinced. In the background, Napoli are monitoring the situation and are on stand-by.
In a previous video on Conte, Criscitiello said:
“Does he want to return to Milan? Yes. Does he regret leaving Inter? Probably yes, but Conte lives in Turin and has now made a life choice. Today he would open the doors to Milan.
“Inter and Juventus, despite all the political and economic problems they have had, have a winning mentality. Inzaghi has proven to be a great winner and Allegri… you can like him or not but he’s a winner. And this year they’re playing for the Scudetto. Milan must try with Conte.”
