As the Supercoppa Italiana final approaches, both Inter and Milan are grappling with squad selection issues. Inter manager Simone Inzaghi will have to contend with the absence of key defenders Benjamin Pavard and Francesco Acerbi, who did not make the trip. However, the rest of his squad is expected to be available for selection.

On the Milan side, new head coach Sergio Conceicao’s debut lineup saw significant changes from his predecessor’s final selection. Fikayo Tomori made a surprising return to the starting eleven at center-back, while Ismael Bennacer featured for the first time after a lengthy injury layoff. Christian Pulisic also made a comeback, marking his return with a crucial equalizer.

Mike Maignan, donning the captain’s armband, is set to retain his place between the posts, anchoring a four-man defense. However, the composition of the rest of Milan’s starting lineup remains uncertain.

There’s a possibility that Rafael Leao could recover in time to play a role in the final. Conceicao has also hinted at potentially pairing Tammy Abraham and Alvaro Morata in attack, a combination that showed promise in the second half against Juventus. However, the coach may opt for a more conservative approach against their city rivals.

Milan’s injury woes continue, with Noah Okafor, Samuel Chukwueze, Alessandro Florenzi, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all sidelined due to various injuries, further complicating Conceicao’s selection decisions for this crucial derby clash.

Inter Milan (3-5-2): Sommer; Bisseck, De Vrij, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Correa, Martinez

AC Milan (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Emerson, Tomori, Thiaw, Hernandez; Fofana, Bennacer; Pulisic, Reijnders, Jimenez; Morata
