Theo Hernandez Rejects Al-Hilal Transfer as Angelino Becomes Top Target

Start

Theo Hernandez has turned down a big-money move to Al-Hilal, despite Milan accepting a reported €30–35 million offer from the Saudi club.

Why Has the Theo Hernandez Al Hilal Transfer Collapsed?

While the Rossoneri had agreed terms with Al-Hilal, Hernandez isn’t willing to leave Europe and prefers to stay at Milan or wait for offers from elite European clubs. His current deal at San Siro runs until June 2026.

Tuttosport reports growing frustration within the Milan camp, as club directors fear Hernandez may run down his contract and leave on a free.

Sources close to the negotiations suggest that Al-Hilal’s package included a €20 million-per-year salary — an offer Hernandez flatly refused.

With the FIFA Club World Cup on the horizon, Al-Hilal are now racing against time to secure a replacement by the Saudi league’s transfer deadline.

Al-Hilal Begin Angelino Talks

With the Theo Hernandez Al-Hilal transfer now effectively off the table, the Saudi Pro League side has shifted focus to Roma’s Spanish left-back Angelino.

Al-Hilal have submitted an opening offer worth €18 million plus €2 million in bonuses to the Giallorossi, with negotiations ongoing and a revised bid expected soon.

Simone Inzaghi, newly appointed as Al-Hilal manager, has reportedly greenlit the move.

Angelino — who was bought outright by Roma from RB Leipzig for €5 million earlier this year — made 51 appearances across all competitions this past season, contributing four goals and six assists.

Is Angelino Leaving Roma?

Roma are set to undergo a summer of transition. Gian Piero Gasperini has been appointed as the club’s new head coach, while Claudio Ranieri has remained in an advisory role despite being approached by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) for the national team post.

Angelino is considered versatile and experienced, able to operate in both back-four and back-three formations, making him a good fit for Al-Hilal’s tactical flexibility under Inzaghi.

Al-Hilal Also Eyeing Lazio’s Nuno Tavares

If negotiations for Angelino stall, Al-Hilal are also monitoring Lazio’s Nuno Tavares, who has just completed a permanent move from Arsenal for €5 million. Tavares had an impressive season in Serie A and is said to be on the shortlist of alternatives.

Still, Angelino appears to be the priority, and with Roma showing willingness to negotiate, a deal could be finalized within days.
