Guglielmo Vicario Future In Premier League Uncertain As Spurs Target Young Shot-Stopper

Tottenham Identify Guglielmo Vicario Replacement 

Thomas Frank has begun his search for a new shot-stopper ahead of the January window as Guglielmo Vicario’s future in the Premier League remains uncertain.

The Italian international received a chorus of boos from Tottenham Hotspur supporters after a major error against Fulham on November 29th.

Since then, Spurs have avoided defeat in three consecutive matches and secured a 3-0 victory over Slavia Prague in their latest European outing.

Vicario has maintained his position in between the posts despite the controversy and the 29-year-old revealed how the jeers from supporters affected him.

Vicario said: “I’m happy when the fans cheer for me but I’m aware when I make a mistake or have a good game. I’m just trying to stay balanced, that’s my personality.

“I’m a big man and I can handle these things. They are part of the game and we move on.”

Although Vicario has put on a brave front, Spurs are still searching for a possible replacement and have identified Manchester City star, James Trafford.

The Englishman joined the Cityzens in the recent summer transfer window, but his early stages have not gone according to plan as Pep Guardiola also added Gianluigi Donnarumma to his roster.

Donnarumma has started in every Premier League match since joining and Trafford has been forced to watch the Italian from the bench.

Trafford could be in line for a league appearance as Donnarumma may be dropped for City’s upcoming fixture against Crystal Palace on December 14th.

This lack of playing-time could see Trafford make a move to Spurs in January and Vicario has already caught the eye of multiple Serie A sides.

Vicario Open To Serie A Return

Vicario has been linked with a return to Serie A in 2026 after his recent struggles with Tottenham and Inter Milan are said to be the front-runners.

The Nerazzurri are looking to replace Yann Sommer as the Swiss shot-stopper has failed to meet expectations this season and is struggling to adapt under Cristian Chivu.

Inter’s defensive roster could see multiple changes next-year as Denzel Dumfries has sparked rumors over a move elsewhere after cutting ties with renowned soccer agent, Jorge Mendes.

Chivu will be looking to find suitable replacements for both players if they push for a January exit, but Inter could face competition from other Serie A sides.

AC Milan are also searching for a new shot-stopper as Mike Maignan is set to leave the club after his deal expires in June 2026.

The Rossoneri sit top of Serie A and Massimiliano Allegri may receive huge support in the upcoming transfer window.

Vicario’s deal in England does not expire until June 2028, meaning any potential suitor would need to spend over €35million.
