Francesco Totti, the legendary former captain of Roma and now an icon for the Betsson brand, which sponsors Inter Milan among others, has once again made headlines with his recent statements. Speaking at the Sportitalia Village, Totti responded to journalists’ questions, revealing some surprising information.

In recent days, some have called for his return to the field, given the scarcity of players with his class in Serie A today. Totti’s response was nothing short of sensational, unveiling an unexpected market backstory.

Regarding a potential return to the pitch, Totti said, “My return to the field? In life, never say never. There have already been players in the past who returned to play after several years.”

He then dropped a bombshell, stating, “To play in Serie A, I would need to train really well. Some Serie A teams have recently approached me.”

Elaborating on the timing of these approaches, Totti revealed, “When did it happen? A month ago, and it made me a bit crazy, gave me some thoughts. I asked myself: why after so many years are they still asking me? In 2 months, I would be ready…”

When asked about Juventus’ young talent Yildiz, Totti commented, “Yildiz is a young talent, he needs to prove himself. He has great qualities to show he can be a great player. Comparing him to Alex (Del Piero) is reductive and doesn’t benefit the boy. What Alex has done will be difficult to replicate. Wearing the number ten is not easy, the number ten is heavy.”

Finally, addressing the lack of traditional number 10s in Italian football and the possibility of playing for rival teams, Totti said, “There isn’t a number 10 in Italy today, but one could return… A call from Lazio? I wouldn’t have considered it. It’s possible that Inter might call me…”
