Di Francesco noted that his team had initially responded well to conceding the first goal. However, he lamented the subsequent errors that led to the corner kick and two penalties, stating, “We hurt ourselves. We lost confidence in our build-up play, where Milan was struggling to press us at the beginning.”
The Venezia coach described the evening as a bad one that should serve as a lesson for the team. He took responsibility for the errors made, admitting, “We weren’t up to par. We faced a team with players who wanted to prove themselves.”
When questioned about the penalty awarded for a foul on Abraham, Di Francesco expressed his disagreement. “I don’t agree with the first penalty. There was only a light touch on Abraham.
