Lindelof quit Old Trafford after eight years of service at the end of the 2024-25 campaign. During his time with the Red Devils, the Sweden international won the 2023-24 FA Cup and the 2022-23 EFL Cup.
Many United fans viewed Lindelof as a cult hero. He was originally signed by Jose Mourinho in 2017 and was an admirable servant during some difficult seasons in the north of England.
Now, it appears that Lindelof could be entertaining a new venture in Serie A. Lindelof has never played in Italy having previously represented Vasteras, Benfica B and Benfica.
Victor Lindelof Transfer News
In July, FootItalia exclusively revealed that Fiorentina was interested in signing Victor Lindelof. Although English Premier League side Everton are keen, it’s understood that Lindelof would prefer a switch to Florence.
In fact, Corriere dello Sport have said that Lindelof has already snubbed the Toffees. The 31-year-old is seeking to reunite with friend and former team-mate David de Gea in Italy.
De Gea has been in contact with Lindelof to give him an insight of what life is like in Serie A. The duo spent six years together at Manchester United and it’s believed that the legendary Spanish goalkeeper will be key in getting the potential deal over the line.
This summer, I Viola have splashed out €84million on new recruits. The majority of those have been in midfield or attack. Therefore, acquiring someone with Lindelof’s experience for free could prove a masterstroke.
Victor Lindelof Style Of Play
After entertaining the rigors of the English Premier League for eight years, Victor Lindelof may be more at home in Serie A. Especially as he recently turned 31.
Lindelof is widely recognized as a calm and composed centre-back. The Sweden star is a ball-playing defender who is renowned for his calmness under pressure.
Such traits have earned him a nickname of ‘The Iceman.’ Although not blessed with an abundance of pace, Lindelof has excellent positional attributes and has a strong ability to read the game.
Lindelof is also strong in the tackle and often wears his heart on his sleeve. He is a very determined and passionate defender and would fit in well to Stefano Pioli’s side.
When the occasion calls for it, Lindelof can also be utilized as a defensive midfielder. He would make a fine addition for I Viola as they embark on a successful 2025-26 campaign.
