Victor Osimhen set to miss Fiorentina match

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen looks almost certain to miss Friday’s clash against Fiorentina, putting their Conference League hopes at risk. The Partenopei find themselves in 9th place in the Serie A standings, two points behind La Viola, who are currently occupying the remaining Conference League qualification spot.

The match at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Friday evening could be Napoli’s last chance to secure European football next season, but they would have been reliant on the inclusion of Osimhen.  According to Calciomercato, the Napoli striker will not be able to recover in time for the match, having missed group training on Wednesday. A statement from Napoli announced :

 “Napoli trained this morning at the SSCN Konami Training Center. The Azzurri are preparing for the match against Fiorentina scheduled for Friday at the Stadio Franchi for the 37th round of Serie A (8:45 pm). The team worked on field 1 where they started the session with activation and small-sided games. Later, the group was engaged in technical-tactical training and a final scrimmage. Zielinski carried out personalized work on the field. Mario Rui underwent personalized work in the gym and on the field. Osimhen underwent therapies and personalized work in the gym. Lindstrom trained with the group.”
