A new Vincenzo Italiano contract is in the pipeline after the Bologna head coach oversaw a fine 1-0 win over Milan in the Coppa Italia final.
Dan Ndoye scored the only goal of the game to gift Rossoblu their first major title in 51 years. Italiano’s charges have now guaranteed Europa League soccer for 2025-26.
However, Bologna are only two points off the Champions League spots. If Italiano can led his stars into fourth at the end of the season, they’d play in Europe’s elite club competition instead.
It won’t be easy though as Juventus, Roma and Lazio are all jostling for the same ranking. Bologna face Fiorentina away on Sunday before finishing the season at home to Genoa seven days later.

Vincenzo Italiano Contract
Bologna CEO Claudio Fenucci has insisted that the wheels are in motion over a new Vincenzo Italiano contract. Fenucci believes that he and Italiano ‘will continue together.’
Italiano has proven to be one of the finest managers in Italy in recent years. After leading Spezia to their first ever promotion to Serie A in his maiden campaign, he successfully avoided relegation the following season.
That was enough to convince Fiorentina to take a chance on the 47-year-old. During his time in Florence, Italiano led the Viola to consecutive Conference League finals (2023 and 2024) and also finished runner-up in the Coppa Italia.
Having moved to the Dall’Ara last summer, Italiano has already earned legendary status with Rossoblu. Italiano’s side have had a brilliant campaign which started when they lost star players Riccardo Calafiori and Joshua Zirkzee.
The duo moved to the English Premier League but that hasn’t stopped Italiano landing a major trophy as well as challenge for a top four spot.
“We’ve already started talking to the lawyer who represents him,” CEO Fenucci explained.
“He’s been very good for us, we’re happy with him as a professional and as a person. We will continue together.”
Meanwhile, Bologna’s defeated Coppa Italia opponents have had a disastrous campaign. Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani admitted it had been a ‘failed season‘ after the loss on Wednesday.
The Rossoneri are languishing in 8th and are three points off the European spots with two games left to play.
