Weston McKennie Juventus Future Takes Another Twist As Contract Negotiations Stall
Weston McKennie's Juventus future has taken another turn after further issues over a new deal.
Juventus are facing another issue involving Weston McKennie as the Bianconeri are yet to offer the USMNT star a new contract.
Juventus Stall Over Weston McKennie Contract
Weston Mckennie’s deal with Juventus is set to expire at the end of the 2025/26 campaign and the Bianconeri have seen negotiations over a new contract stall.
The USMNT star appeared to be on his way out of Turin after multiple loan spells away from the club, however McKennie has started to find his feet under Luciano Spalletti.
Since the 66-year-old took the reins in Turin, McKennie has started in every Serie A match and the Bianconeri have only suffered one defeat during this run.
Juventus are looking to make some adjustments to their roster in January, as the Italian side target Federico Chiesa and consider a move for another former player in Joao Cancelo.
However, before the Bianconeri can look to bring in some reinforcements, they must look at their current squad and decide who will remain in Turin this month.
McKennie has been heavily linked with a move to the United States and these rumors intensified after reports claimed that negotiations over a new deal had stalled due to agent commissions.
The USMNT star’s agent was quick to deny these claims on social media, saying: “I normally don’t respond to social media posts, but when false information is being spread, especially from verified handles, I have to intervene.
“This is Weston’s agent and I can confirm everything below is FALSE. Know your facts before spreading lies and propaganda.”
Although McKennie’s agent denied any talks over a dispute between club and player, the Juventus star is still being monitored by mutliple MLS clubs.
McKennie Open To MLS Move
Despite accumulating 62 caps for the United States national side, McKennie has not played a single minute in the nation’s elite soccer competition.
The 27-year-old moved to Europe as a teenager and has remained in the continent for the entirety of his soccer career, playing in Germany, England and Italy.
Playing in MLS is something that McKennie would like to achieve before he retires from the sport and this could become a reality in 2026 – as the USMNT star will be available for free in the summer.
Juventus have a host of contract issues to deal with this year, as negotiations over a new deal for Kenan Yildiz stall and there have been no signs of any improvement in negotiations.
The 2026 World Cup may play a huge role in McKennie’s future in Italy, as a strong campaign could lead to interest from some elite sides in Europe.
