Who Are Milan Selling This Summer? Allegri Plans Major Squad Clearout

Start

As AC Milan prepares for the 2025/26 campaign under Massimiliano Allegri, the club is actively working to offload up to eight players during the summer transfer window – but who is Milan selling?

Allegri has made it clear that he prefers a lean squad of 22 to 23 senior players, which is shaping Milan’s approach in the market.

The recent arrivals of Samuele Ricci and Luka Modric, as well as the likely retention of stars like Rafael Leao and Mike Maignan, point to a strong squad heading into 2025/26.

To see how the current squad might take shape under Allegri’s leadership, check out our full analysis of how AC Milan are expected to line up in 2025–26, which dives into the manager’s tactics and likely starters.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Rossoneri are open to selling several players who are no longer seen as essential to Allegri’s tactical plans.

Who Are Milan Selling This Summer?

Emerson Royal

One of the most likely exits is Emerson Royal, who has flattered to deceive at Milan since joining from Tottenham Hotspur last summer.

While he featured as a makeshift left wing-back under Sergio Conceicao, Allegri’s tactical reshuffle has left no clear place for him.

Interest in the Brazilian right-back is there from Galatasaray, after missing out on other full-back targets earlier in the window, as well as Real Betis, who he has previously played for on loan. Both clubs looking to finalize a deal in the coming weeks.

Malick Thiaw

Como had a €25 million offer for Malick Thiaw accepted by Milan, but the player turned down the move – reportedly due to doubts over the club’s European ambitions.

Milan is now open to keeping the German defender, but the French defender is still attracting interest from Bayer Leverkusen and Newcastle United.

Allegri reportedly sees Thiaw as a valuable depth option, particularly if other defenders depart, but every player has a price.

Yunus Musah

Yunus Musah was on the verge of completing a move to Napoli, but the deal collapsed late in negotiations.

Milan are still open to letting the USMNT star leave, especially with midfield minutes now at a premium following the arrivals of Modric and Ricci.

Serie A and Bundesliga clubs reportedly interested, although no firm bids have emerged yet.

Ismael Bennacer

Ismael Bennacer is perhaps the most high-profile name on the list. The Algerian midfielder has been at the club since 2019 but is now almost certain to leave, especially after already reinvesting in central midfield.

Fiorentina and Saudi club Al Hilal are showing strong interest. While the former offers the player a familiar setting and level in Italy, Al Hilal will likely present a more lucrative financial package.

Tommaso Pobega

After a solid loan spell last season, Tommaso Pobega could still make the permanent switch to Bologna.

Bologna opted against triggering the €12 million option to buy clause but could negotiate for a lower fee, which – given Milan’s options in midfield – could tempt the Rossoneri to accept.

Samuel Chukwueze

Samuel Chukwueze has struggled to make an impact since arriving from Villarreal in 2023.

Milan is entertaining offers for the winger, with Real Betis reportedly showing interest.

Yacine Adli

Meanwhile, Yacine Adli finds himself out of Allegri’s plans entirely, and his agent is working to secure a move – though there’s no clear frontrunner yet.

Noah Okafor

Noah Okafor is another player the Rossoneri hope to cash in on. The Swiss forward has drawn interest from Besiktas, but Milan is waiting to see if a more competitive offer emerges.

The club values Okafor at around €15 million, which could prove a sticking point.

What is for sure is that Allegri’s squad is far from final, and more movement is expected – both incoming and outgoing.
