Inter Duo Branded The ‘Worst Of The Lot’ After Surprise Udinese Defeat

Yann Bisseck and Hakan Calhanoglu have come under fire after Inter’s 2-1 defeat to Udinese on MD2 of the 2025-26 Serie A season. 

The Nerazzurri’s surprise home loss to the Friulani means they have suffered their earliest league loss since the 2018-19 campaign under Luciano Spalletti.

After the game, head coach Cristian Chivu confirmed his side is still ‘ a work in progress.’ However, the 2010 treble winner may need to ponder his next team selection for the trip to Juventus after the international break.

Yann Bisseck And Hakan Calhanoglu Blasted For Udinese Showing

Despite the Yann Bisseck transfer news strongly suggesting a move away from Inter this summer, the German looks set to remain with the Nerazzurri.

And some supporters may have wished that Bisseck did move on earlier this window. His performance – alongside Hakan Calhanoglu – has been blasted by Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The pair were hugely underwhelming and struggled against Udinese on August 31. The surprising MD2 defeat came after Denzel Dumfries gave last season’s runners-up a 17th minute lead.

However, the Friulani hit back and netted with goals from Keinan Davis and Arthur Atta. That led to Corriere labeling Bisseck and Calhanoglu as the ‘worst of the lot.’

The pair were criticized for their sloppy and lethargic performances. The German defender and Turkish midfielder endured a rather miserable evening at the San Siro.

What Premier League Clubs Were Interested In Yann Bisseck This Summer?

Earlier this window, up to five Premier League clubs monitored Yann Bisseck. Those in question were Bournemouth, Everton, Manchester United, Tottenham and West Ham.

Bisseck’s future at Inter has remained uncertain as none of the interested parties met the Nerazzurri’s asking price. That varied between outlets over the last two months as to what the Serie A giants actually wanted.

Nonetheless, Bisseck will remain in the blue and black half of Milan until at least January. The 6ft 5in defender may then reappear on the radar of teams in England and across the continent.

Was Hakan Calhanoglu Close To Joining Galatasaray?

Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu was also rumored with a move away from the Nerazzurri this summer. The Turkish star reportedly debated a move back home to join Galatasaray.

Nonetheless, Calhanoglu will definitely stay at the San Siro as the Lions didn’t actually submit a formal offer. It appeared to be a more patriotic link than anything else.

Moving forward, both Calhanoglu and Bisseck will need to up their game for the clash against Juventus on MD3. The two titans of Italian soccer ill go toe-to-toe at the Allianz Stadium on September 13.
