Nicolo Zaniolo likely to remain at Roma

Start

Roma forward Nicolo Zaniolo is looking increasingly more likely to remain at the club this summer, baring any late surprises. The young Italian international was linked with a move to Juventus earlier in the summer before Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur made their interest known.

Corriere dello Sport write that the 23-year-old is showing encouraging signs and looks more and more likely to remain in the capital for another season.

According to their report, Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto came very close to selling Zaniolo to Spurs, before being stopped by club owners, The Friedkin group.

The Rome-based newspaper suggest that few clubs have been able to come up with the €50m that the Giallorossi are asking for the player, including Tottenham who would have offered to take him on loan initially.

Roma are now expected to keep the player and propose a new contract extension for the youngster whose existing deal ends in 2024.
