Como have made yet another significant move in the transfer market by agreeing to sign German midfielder Yannik Engelhardt from Fortuna Düsseldorf. The deal, reported to be worth €8 million plus add-ons, marks a substantial investment for the Italian club as they bolster their squad.
Engelhardt, a promising talent from Germany, has caught the eye of Como’s management, who have moved swiftly to secure his services. The agreement includes a sell-on clause, indicating Como’s belief in the player’s potential for future growth and value.
The 22-year-old midfielder has been impressing in the 2. Bundesliga with Fortuna Düsseldorf, and his move to Como represents a step up to a more competitive league. Como, currently pushing for promotion to Serie A, sees Engelhardt as a key piece in their ambitions to reach Italy’s top flight.

Como 1907 has completed the signing on a three year contract of defensive midfielder Yannik Engelhardt from Fortuna Düsseldorf. The 23 year old is a former German youth national team player with 10 caps under his belt.
Engelhardt joined Düsseldorf last summer from SC Freiburg and played a key role in Düsseldorfs impressive season, almost helping them back to the Bundesliga before narrowly losing out through a penalty shoot-out. The team also made the semi-finals of the DFB Pokal losing to eventual winners Bayer Leverkusen.
On bringing Yannik to the club, Cesc Fàbregas, head coach, said: “Yannik joins us following a very good season in Germany. His reputation as a player is growing. He brings a lot of energy and intelligence. We are excited to work with him and help to develop and grow with our team.”
On signing, Yannik said: “I’m very excited to meet all the guys. Meetings and talks with all the coaches and people in the club were very good. I’m very happy to be here and looking forward to getting better acquainted with everybody. I’m very excited to play in Serie A. I would love to enjoy the atmosphere in our stadium.
