In a significant move, Beppe Marotta has been appointed as the new president of Inter Milan, marking a new era under the ownership of Oaktree. The former CEO steps into the role previously held by Steven Zhang, solidifying his position at the helm of the club.
A Board of Directors meeting will be held today to confirm Marotta’s appointment. This decision follows Oaktree’s recent acquisition of the club, which came after Inter’s holding companies failed to repay a three-year loan granted by Oaktree.

Ahead of the Board of Directors meeting, Inter released an extensive statement announcing the proposal to appoint Giuseppe Marotta as the new president. The statement also introduced the new board members and included Marotta’s first remarks on his new role.
“F.C. Internazionale Milano S.p.A. (“Inter” or the “Club”) announces today the proposed appointment of Giuseppe Marotta as the new President and the new composition of the Board of Directors, which will be confirmed at the Shareholders’ Meeting held in Milan today. These appointments follow the recent change in club ownership. On May 22, 2024, funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management, L.P. (“Oaktree”) assumed ownership of Inter following the non-repayment of the three-year loan granted to Inter’s holding companies.”
New Members of the Board of Directors
Oaktree has proposed the following individuals as new members of Inter’s Board of Directors:
- Alejandro Cano, Managing Director and Co-Head Europe for Oaktree’s Global Opportunities strategy
- Katherine Ralph, Managing Director for Oaktree’s Global Opportunities strategy
- Renato Meduri, Senior Vice President for Oaktree’s Global Opportunities strategy
- Carlo Ligori, Associate for Oaktree’s Global Opportunities strategy
- Delphine Nannan, Senior Vice President for Oaktree’s Luxembourg office
- Fausto Zanetton, CEO of Tifosy Capital & Advisory
This new Board combines expertise from Italy and Europe, including the Oaktree team that has been collaborating with the club since 2021. The new members bring essential experience and skills to achieve the club’s long-term objectives and ensure Inter’s prosperity, growth, and success.
