OFFICIAL: Milan sign Alvaro Morata

Start

Milan have officially confirmed the  signing  of Spanish striker Alvaro Morata, in a move that could significantly strengthen their offensive lineup for the upcoming season.

The Rossoneri, who finished second in Serie A last season, are looking to close the gap on their city rivals Inter Milan. The addition of Morata, a proven goalscorer with experience in top European leagues, could be a key factor in their pursuit of domestic and European success.

Morata, who has previously played for clubs like Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Juventus, brings a wealth of experience to the San Siro. His ability to play as a lone striker or in a partnership makes him an attractive option for Milan’s tactical flexibility.

A statement on Milan’s official website confirmed the news:

“AC Milan is proud to announce the signing of Álvaro Borja Morata Martín from Club Atlético de Madrid. Captain of the Spanish national team, with which he recently won the European Championship, Morata has signed with the Rossoneri until 30 June 2028, with an option to extend for an additional year.

Born in Madrid on 23 October 1992, Álvaro spent time in the Youth Sectors of Atlético, Getafe and Real Madrid, before graduating from the latter and making his senior debut with the Blancos in December 2010. Over his career, he has played for Real Madrid, Juventus, Chelsea and Atlético Madrid making a total of 506 appearances and scoring 172 goals. He has won two UEFA Champions League titles, one UEFA Super Cup, one FIFA Club World Cup, two LaLiga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies, one Supercopa de España, two Serie A titles, three Coppa Italias, two Italian Supercoppe and one FA Cup.

The current Spanish captain has played 80 games for his national team, scoring 36 goals, and has won both the recent European Championship and the 2022/23 UEFA Nations League.

He has chosen to wear the number 7.”
