Juventus have officially announced the appointment of Thiago Motta as their new head coach on a two-year contract. The former Bologna coach was widely expected to take over the reins at the Bianconeri, following Max Allegri’s sacking last month.
A statement on Juve’s official site read:
It’s official: the next coach of Juventus will be Thiago Motta. The Italian-Brazilian coach has signed an agreement with Juventus until June 30, 2027.
Yet to turn forty-two, Thiago Motta began his coaching career in 2018, starting with the youth teams at Paris Saint Germain, the club where he had ended his playing career just a few months earlier. In Italy, he took the helm at Genoa in 2019, then went on to coach Spezia and Bologna. In the last two years at Bologna, he successfully implemented his game ideas and achieved a historic qualification for the Champions League.
THIAGO’S FIRST WORDS
“I am truly delighted to begin a new experience leading a great club like Juventus. I thank the ownership and management, and I assure them of all my ambition to uphold the black and white colors and make the fans happy.”
Welcome to Juventus and good luck, Coach!
