Raffaele Palladino refused to comment on Danilo D’Ambrosio’s red card, saying only that he is proud of his Monza players, despite their 1-0 loss to Roma. The Biancorossi had chances of their own in the match but were ultimately undone through a late Stephan El Shaarawy winner. Speaking with Sky Sport Italia, Palladino expressed his pride for their performance, playing with 10 men for the vast majority of the game:
“We have to be good at shifting the focus on what happened on the pitch. I am proud of my boys who managed to defend and counter with 10 men for 60 minutes. In the second half we had 3-4 chances, unfortunately football is sometimes like this, I am proud of my boys”.
“D’Ambrosio? I don’t comment on refereeing incidents, I haven’t even seen it again. I don’t know if it was there or not, but certainly D’Ambrosio went in a decisive manner. But that’s what I ask of my defenders. I’m not angry with him, he wanted to look for the ball, unfortunately it happens. I’m angry if he doesn’t go for it next time’.
‘I’m happy to have Vignato, he’s a guy I count on a lot. Ciurria had a small muscle strain yesterday in the finishing session, it’s that kind of thing at the limit: as I really care about him, I didn’t want to risk him today.”
