Following AC Milan’s impressive victory against Empoli, coach Paulo Fonseca shared his thoughts on the match during a post-game interview with DAZN. He expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, despite some frustrations regarding officiating.
Fonseca began by acknowledging his irritation with the referee, stating, “I was very angry with the referee, but I want to move on. We played a beautiful game, both offensively and defensively. Chukwueze came on and contributed well, showing great sacrifice for the team. We scored three goals but could have easily netted six or seven, and we need to improve in that area. Overall, I am very pleased with the team.”
He highlighted the offensive capabilities displayed during the match: “Today we created a lot of chances. It was a different game against a team that defends in a unique way. Not just Leao, but also Emerson, Musah, and others showed the mobility needed to break down teams like this.”
Fonseca praised his team’s overall balance throughout the match: “We were solid at all times; we didn’t just attack well but also maintained our defensive security. Even against Juventus, we were never in danger, which is essential for better attacking opportunities.”
Looking ahead to their next challenge against Atalanta, he remarked, “I can’t say much yet, but both teams share similarities that we need to study closely. Against teams like this, Maignan is an extra player on the field.”
