Perin: ‘There’s great enthusiasm in the locker room’

Juventus goalkeeper Mattia Perin says there is great enthusiasm in the locker-room as the Bianconeri prepare for a decisive week. A victory against an already relegated Salernitana side will guarantee a place in the Champions League for Max Allegri’s men, while the Coppa Italia final takes place the following week. Speaking to the clubs official channels, Perin expressed his excitement at an important seven days for the team:

“So much can be decided in the space of three days: now we must remain focused on Salernitana, whom we must not underestimate, as we saw a few days ago against Atalanta. The first rule is never to underestimate the opponent, and to bring home three fundamental points.”

“In the locker room there is a great enthusiasm, when I wake up in the morning I can’t wait to come to train: we have everything in our hands, in three days we can qualify for the Champions League and lift a cup: winning a trophy is fundamental at Juve, even if there are years in which we don’t succeed. Two years ago we lost in the final, last year in the semi-final, and we came close to the Europa League final. That’s why these days are so important.

“We went through a really difficult period after January: until the matches with Empoli and Inter, we were fighting for the Scudetto and then we saw not only Inter move ahead, but those who were far behind come closer. We did well because we are a very strong group: I’m sure that any other group, in our place, would have risked drowning. You have to know how to overcome difficult periods, and criticism, with balance: we were good at helping each other and coming out of it, now we want to prepare for these two games with maximum concentration and effort.”
